Hayward Sullivan
January 13, 1925 – December 16, 2021
It is with deep sadness the family announces the passing of our loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Hayward Sullivan passed peacefully away on Thursday, December 16th, 2021, at the age of 96. Predeceased by his loving wife Edith, parents May and John, brothers and sisters Grace (Jack), Suzie (Nath), Violet (Cecil), Lydia (Roy), Frank, Jack, and stepbrother Russell (Edith).
Leaving to mourn with countless precious memories, his sons and their families, Wayne and Mercedes, Hedley ‘Ted’ and Bonnie, and Neil. Grandchildren Angie (Teddy), Brad, Amanda (Jeremy), Evan, Ashley, Ryan, and Lisa (Jason). Great-grandchildren Madison, Aaliyah, Bethany, and Alexander. Also, a large circle of extended family and kind friends.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the residents and caring staff of North Pond Manor who got to know Hayward well and cared for him with kindness and compassion.
One of the oldest members of the community of Pouch Cove, Hayward (Poppy) will be remembered with love by all who knew him. His kind face had a smile for everyone, and he’d be sure to say something so you’d share in a chuckle. We were in awe of his resilience, his strength, and his enthusiasm for the outdoors that had him chopping wood into his 90’s. Spending time with his family filled his heart with happiness and pride. He’d truly glow in the presence of each and every one of us. We were hugged and kissed and told we were loved every day. The love he spread filled every room he entered and stayed with you when he left. We will miss Poppy greatly and deeply forever more.
Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors at Caul’s Funeral Home in Torbay on Monday, December 20th, 2021 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, December 21st, 2021 at 2pm, at the All Saints Anglican Church in Pouch Cove, with inurnment to follow at All Saints Cemetery. Flowers graciously appreciated or donations made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Society.
