Harold was born and raised on Twillingate Island. After graduating high school with honours, he moved to St. John’s to complete a trade as a wireless operator which led him off the island to a job posting in Alberta. Eventually he transferred to Ontario where he met his lifelong partner, Florence, and they were married in Toronto. Shortly after, the two Newfoundlanders returned home to start a family. Harold began working at Atlantic Films and then went on to open his own business—Clarke Electronics—which he operated until well after his intended retirement. Harold dedicated his life to protecting and providing for the ones he loved.
