Harold’s Obituary
It is with broken hearts that the family of Harold Allen Weir mourn the sudden loss of the greatest husband, dad, papa, cousin and friend there ever was on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, just one week shy of his 80th birthday. Harold was born in the Annapolis General Hospital to the late Horace Alexander and Sarah Mariah Victoria (Neaves) Weir. He grew up in the family home in Round Hill with his late sister Muriel Cotton.
He married the love of his life Gladys Eleanor (Spurr) on December 1, 1973, taking on his two very special daughters, Laura (Robert) Burrell and Dawn (Mike) Sobotka. Together along with his parents they built the family home in Centrelea where Roger, Victoria (Vickie) and Billie Jo would join this special family- where the door was always open to family and friends (who were always made to feel like family) Harold and Gladys adopted many children and grandchildren along their journey.
Harold loved his family. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren, Kourtney (Nick) Bailey and Colin, Samantha Morrison and Harold, Brettney Burrell (Nick Lyrette), Rebecca Burrell (Mark Fotes) Athanasios and Charlotte, Lindsay (Jeff) Duggan and Kellie McLean (Sean Holly) and three step grandchildren (Sarah, Melissa and Shawn)
Many of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were there to celebrate his 80th birthday the weekend before he went to the hospital. He loved his cat Hobo the best of all. He was a humble and patient man who worked hard at Britex for 36 years before the doors closed. He enjoyed playing cards, bingo, fishing, trapping, hunting, playing and coaching baseball and watching his soaps. Harold especially enjoyed many happy Christmases in his childhood home with his mom and dad, his special late Aunt Irene (Neaves) and Garnet Hudson and their daughter, Marsha (Dennis) Garagan and family. He spent later years as custodian tending the fire at the Centrelea Baptist Church and mowing the cemetery. He was a good and faithful servant to the Lord.
Thank you to Dr. Colin Newman and Beth Bent and to one of his dearest friends Nurse Helen Balcom for taking care of him. Thank you to the doctors at Valley Regional Hospital for the kind compassionate care to Harold and his family.
Thank you to Gary and team at Middleton Funeral Home for your compassion.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life with family and close friends will be planned at a later date. Donations in memory of Harold can be made to the Centrelea Baptist Church or Centrelea Cemetery. Thank you for walking through this world with us- until we meet again. We love you dad. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448. Online guestbook may be signed by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
