It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of Gwen James (nee Fowke), 87 years, who passed away at Pioneer Manor on Saturday, September 11th, 2021. Beloved wife of Ernest James predeceased 2000. Daughter of the late Fredrick and Gladys Fowke. She was the mother of Judy James (Mark), Wendy James, Grant James, and Kelly Hogan (Blair). Cherished grandmother of Kristin, Cheryl, Darren, Stephanie, and Alisha, Tiffany, Trinity, Ty, Amanda, Ryan and great grandchildren Chloe, Regan, Nicholas, and Caleb. Gwen is also survived by her brother Glen Fowke (Eileen), and sisters Lois Bradley (Bill deceased), her twin Goldie Joy (Ken deceased) and Claire Page (Don). Her sister June Morris (Norm) predeceased her. She will be missed by many nieces and nephews. Gwen was born on October 28th, 1933 in Kirkland Lake. Where she was raised. She came to Sudbury as a young woman where she and Ernie raised their family. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church for many years and singing in the church choir brought her joy. The family offers a special thank you to all the staff at Pioneer Manor for the wonderful care that made Gwen’s final months comfortable. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated. As per her wishes, a private family service will be held at the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home.
