Granville Fraser
1943-2021
Granville Fraser – age 78, of
Kentville, formerly of Greenwich and Coldbrook, passed away on Monday,
December 6, 2021 in the Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville.
Born in Kentville, he was a son of Mary (Brown) Fraser, Berwick and
the late Raymond Fraser.
Granville
was a welder at Michelin. He was a volunteer firefighter by choice and
served both with the Berwick and District Volunteer Fire Department as
well as the Waterville and District Volunteer Fire
Department. He was also a former member of the Berwick Lions
Club as well as a charter member of the Coldbrook and District Lions
Club. He was also involved with the Bluegrass sector and was
a member of Valley Shore Bluegrass, of which a few of their
CD’s were released.
Granville
enjoyed spending time with his children and taking them camping for
all of their lives. He and Pat became seasonal campers after
the nest was empty. He enjoyed playing his mandolin, getting
his practice whilst sitting on his throne. He enjoyed going fishing,
bluegrass festivals, jam sessions in the basement, and spending
quality family time with his various family
members.
He is
survived by daughters, Lisa (Donald) Parks, Hants Border; Tammy
(Kevin) Burke, Brent, Philippines; Alana (Devon) Wilson, Aldershot;
sisters, Cynthia Jones, Waterville; Valetta Wood, North Kentville;
Doreen (Brian) Durling, Prospect; Mary Frost, Halifax; Margaret Lutz
(Bruce Conrad), Cole Harbour; grandchildren, Tiana, Joe, Meagan,
Kayla, Jadin, Patrick, Nataya, Emily, Samantha;
great-grandchildren, Ava, Brandon, Logan, Nari; nieces,
nephews and extended family.
He was
predeceased by his wife, Patricia Kent (Walker); infant brother;
brothers-in-law, David Jones, Foster Wood, John
“Chub” Walker, Frank Walker, and Gerald Walker;
sister-in-law, Sandra Rafuse.
Cremation
has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral service, by
Granville’s request. Donations in
Granville’s memory may be made to the Parkinson Society Nova
Scotia, SPCA – Kings Shelter or the Canadian Cancer Society.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family
Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. On-line condolences
