Obituary
It is with sadness Grace’s family acknowledge her passing on Monday, November 1, 2021 in Lethbridge, Alberta.
Grace Elsie Hay (Bricker) passed away quietly with much loved family at her side. Born May 14, 1937, Grace was the youngest of four children and enjoyed growing up on the family farm near Chestermere, Alberta.
During her life, she had been a real estate agent and a rewarding career as a school secretary with the Calgary Board of Education, at Jenny Elliott Elementary and Sherwood Community School in Calgary. Grace discovered her passion with Toast Mistress, becoming President of Region making many friends and enjoyed travelling while involved in the organization. Other hobbies she loved were cross stitch; crochet, knitting, sewing (she made many of her own work clothes); ceramics; paper tolle; and genealogy. Family was the center of everything and she greeted each of her grandchildren with joy, ensuring each of them got a handmade stocking for their first Christmas.
In the last few years, Grace progressed with Alzheimer’s, but she stayed active and involved with family. Enjoying every day playing cards, visiting with family and ensuring the family pets were well loved, fed and taken care of.
She is survived by her two children, Robert (Janice) Hay, and Carolyn (Ramon) Peters; grandchildren Christopher (Steph) Hay, Daniel, Aaron, Courtney & Brooklynne; Jeremy (Leah) Barrett, Jensen & Jaycob; Jennifer (Melissa) Reid, Julian, Amelia, Abbigail & Greg; Allison (Ory) Sawka; Tia White; Josh Hay; Sarah (Jag) Peters; Elijiah Peters and many beloved nephews and nieces.
Grace was predeceased by her husband Stan Hay, parents Arthur & Emmaline Bricker, brother Art and sister-in-law Rene Bricker; brother Dave and sister-in-law Phyllis Bricker; sister Anne and brother-in-law Joe Ashmore.
A private family service is being held at a later date.
