Gilles Violette Sunday September 5th 2021

Gilles René Violette (82)
The gardens are beautiful in heaven.
This is not “goodbye”, it’s “see you later”.
It is with heavy hearts – but happy ones for Gilles who has gone to the other realm, knowing he is in a state of pure joy, peace and unconditional love. Gilles Violette left this earthly world on Sept. 5, 2021 knowing how much he was loved. In fact, he had no doubt. His family gathered frequently to share laughs with him, pray with him and be by his side. He bravely fought cancer but was ready to rest. We will celebrate his full, beautiful life.
Gilles was born on Dec 4, 1938 in Rouyn, Quebec to his parents Paul-Emile Violette and Marie-Reine (née Authier) both deceased. He was one of six children, the oldest of the boys; Fernande Garrison (Bill) both deceased, Paul deceased, Pierre deceased (Cheryl), Jean-Marc and Ronald (Estelle).
Gilles met the love of his life Bernie (Bernadette Boudreau) in Sarnia Ontario and they married in 1959. They have two beautiful children, Michelle (Dan Landry) and Robert (Wendy Weddell). Gilles was the definition of a true family man and wanted his family around as much as possible. Their door was always open, the more the merrier. He will be missed by his loving grandchildren; Stephanie Violette-Frawley (Dave), Sachelle Violette-Alkhoury (Isaac), Shane, Chantèle (Matt Thomas), Roch, Natasha. He was a fun great-grandpapa to Tyson and Stone. He will be remembered forever by Michel Mayer and Lise (Rouleau) Violette. Once you were in his family, you were there to stay.
Gilles had a real love for fashion, interior design and landscape. He was also an avid skier, both cross-country and downhill. He liked to hike the trails in the Laurentian conservation area. As well, he enjoyed the fellowship he shared with the other members of the church choir.
His favourite day was Christmas Eve that also happens to be his dear wife’s birthday. The family would gather and share laughs. In the summertime, you could often find him at his neighbours for “happy hour” sharing a laugh with all his friends. His family and friends all know of stories told forever of his eventual “cabin in the bush” and they have found comfort in knowing that’s where he is now.
The family wants to thank all the staff at the Cancer Centre, Bayshore HealthCare, and Maison McCulloch Hospice for their unconditional care and support.
If you wish to honour his memory, donations to Maison McCulloch Hospice, or St. Patrick Church would be appreciated.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 17, 2021 at St. Patrick’s Church, 39 Walford Rd, Sudbury, ON.
