Obituary of Gertrude Cecilia Hallborg
HALLBORG – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gertrude Cecilia Hallborg in her 100th year on Saturday April 17, 2021. She passed away at Port Colborne Hospital and was predeceased by her loving husband of 41 years Leonard. Gertrude leaves behind her son Keith (Susan) Hallborg. Gertrude is predeceased by her daughters Marion (Howard) Hood, Charlene Hallborg and Beverly (Robert) Topa. She is also predeceased by her son Howard Hallborg. Gertrude had a special bond with her grandchildren Sherri (Steven) Platford, Nathan Hood, Shayna Topa, Bethany (Amir) Elias, Katie (Eric) Perreault. Mellissa (Micheal) Montague, Christopher Hallborg and Zachary Hallborg. She leaves behind an amazing 15 great-grandchildren.
Gertrude is survived by sisters-in-law Evelyn Knoll, Edythe Knoll, Joanne Hallborg, Maxine Hallborg, brother in law Roy House, Fred Warner and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by parents Robert and Nora (Gram) Knoll, siblings Dorothy Kleine, Irving Knoll, John Knoll, Alfred Knoll, Sadie House, Agnes Warner, Donald Knoll, sister-in-law Phyllis Knoll, Bert Hallborg, Helen Hallborg, and brothers-in-law Ernie Kleine and George Smid, Herman Hallborg, Lloyd Hallborg, Wallace Hallborg, Marvin Hallborg, Wayne Hallborg, Russell Hallborg, Garfield Hallborg and Gordon Hallborg.
Gertrude loved life, family and church. We will all miss her kindness, compassion and smile.
Thanks to Portal Village and the Niagara Health System (Port Colborne and Welland) for the care they have provided to Gertrude.
A private funeral service will be held at Davidson Funeral Home, 135 Clarence St. Port Colborne on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at 1:30 pm.
