Gertrude Mulligan (nee Turner)
1920-2021
Gertrude Annie Mulligan (nee Turner) died peacefully at the
Prince County Hospital on Sunday, September 26, 2021 with family by
her side, at the age of 101 years. Born in Hope River on
April 22, 1920, daughter of the late Edward and Annie (Doyle)
Turner. Wife of the late Harold
Mulligan. Gertrude and Harold lived, worked and raised their
family in Middleton, PEI. Gertrude was a loving and beloved
mother to her children Ernest (Melinda), Robert (Lorrraine), Marion
(Hughie) Mossman, Joanne (Leslie) Nantes and deceased children, Donald
and Reg. Survived by sisters Noreen (Gerald McKenna) and
Geraldine (Claude) Belanger, proud grandmother to 13 grandchildren, 22
great grandchildren, one great, great grandchild, as well as many
nieces and nephews. Predeceased by the following sisters and
brothers: Eleanor (Lollie) Doucette, Tom (Helen), Mary (Lorne) Noonan,
Frances (Frank) Gaudet, Joan (John) Howe, Andy (Ada), Jim, Rosa (DB)
Reid and Mona Turner. Predeceased by grandchildren Donna Lee
Mulligan and Scott Nantes. Gertrude was a member of the
Middleton CWL, joining the group in 1940 and she was an active member
of the St. Malachy’s Church Parish. Many people
have kind memories of this stylish and generous woman when she worked
at McIver’s Store in Kinkora. For the past 14
years, Gertrude lived at Andrews of Park Hill Place in
Summerside. She called Park Hill home and often said that
staff became part of her family. Thank you to the management
and staff for providing the joy and contentment Gertrude experienced
during her years at Andrews of Park Hill. Resting at the
Lawless Funeral Home, Kinkora. In accordance with Covid-19
restrictions, visitation for immediate family will be held at the
funeral home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St.
Malachy’s Church, Kinkora on Wednesday, September 29, 2021
at 10:30 a.m. Donations in Gertrude’s memory may
be made to the St. Malachy’s Cemetery Fund.
