Obituary of George Albrecht
George Steinman Albrecht passed away at the Residential Hospice of Grey Bruce on Friday, February 26, 2021, after a long and full life of 99 years. Dear Husband of the late Edith Belle (née Keffer) Albrecht. Much loved Dad of Jerry (Pat) Albrecht of Deep River, ON, Mary Kathryn (Grant) Colling of Creston, BC and Barbara (John) Stanley of Annan, ON. Dear Opa and “Grumpy Gramps” of Danny (Lisa) Albrecht, Katy Albrecht, Michael (Amanda) Stanley, Timothy (Lyndsay) Stanley and Jonathan (Rachel) Stanley. Great grandfather of Micah, Luke, Isaac, Zach and Joella. George was born January 18, 1922 in Brunner ON, one of 11 children of Jacob and Mattie (née Steinman) Albrecht. He is survived by his sister Eileen Woolner, sisters-in-law Lucille Albrecht and Nesta Keffer, brother-in-law Carl (Rande) Keffer and predeceased by siblings and in-laws, Selina and Enos Boshart, Clara and Alvin Schlegel, Verna and Carl Siemon, Lorne and Emma Albrecht, Jake and Laurene Albrecht, Lena and Robert Shantz, Harry Albrecht, Ervin and Marjorie Albrecht, Gord Woolner, Armand and Elenore Albrecht, Walter and Laurene Keffer, Mary and Stephan Kaczmarek. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. George was a veteran of WWII as a member of the Es Scottish Regiment. After their marriage on July 17, 1955, George and Edith farmed for 40 years near Moorefield. They retired to London and later moved to Owen Sound. He leaves us with wonderful memories of his quick wit, sense of humour, love of playing games, generosity and steadfastness.
An online memorial service for George will be held at a later date and the link to the service will be posted here when available. Interment will be taking place in Annan Cemetery in the spring.
