Obituary
It is with immense sadness that we announce the sudden passing of George Alexander Olver Jr.
George was a loving father, brother, and friend to so many. Anyone who met or knew George, found a kind hearted strong and caring man who would give you the shirt off his back. He touched the lives of everyone he knew and met along his journey in life. George had a great sense of humor, was fiercely loyal, and was a loving, strong, and brave man.
In 2019 he took a trip to Korea with his daughters, Ashley and Lindsay, this trip was for the girls and he loved seeing the smiles on their faces as they had that adventure together.
George also looked forward to his annual fishing trips with his buddies, a tradition of over 30 years. He enjoyed the time they spent away from the everyday grind, spending days fishing, drinking and talking about those “big fish” stories. This past Summer, George spent time with his sister, nephew, and cousin in Tulameen, teaching his nephew Steven how to drive a quad while his mom looked on in panic and disbelief-truly a memory Steven will cherish of his uncle.
George was diagnosed with a very rare cancer in Spring of 2021. By Summer, the cancer had spread and quickly was at stage IV. Never one to give up or back down from a fight, George faced this challenge head on, determined for it not to beat him. George lived his life with “no regrets”, so much so, he had it tattooed on his shoulder while he was going through radiation treatments this summer in Kelowna. Through the relinquishing love and support from his family, closest friends and loved ones, George fought to the end, never giving up hope. Unfortunately, George’s battle ended on the evening of December 2nd, at Kelowna Hospice.
George spent the last part of his life in Tulameen, where he felt such happiness and love. This is why he chose Tulameen to be his final resting place. He truly called Tulameen, and all the people there, his home and was looking forward to the coming winter to reflect on his life and find his peace. George wishes his ashes to be spread at the Lookout, so everyone will know “George was in the House!”.
A celebration of George’s life will take place at a later date, TBA.
Taken far too soon from this world, and from the people who truly loved him, you have finally found your peace dear George, no regrets.
If you wish, in remembrance of George, please make a donation in George’s memory to the Tulameen Flood Relief GoFundMe, or to the Tulameen and District Fire Department.
