Garven John Wheeler October 19 1947 November 18 2021 (age 74)

Obituary
Garven John Wheeler was born at Treherne, Manitoba on October 19, 1947 to Howard George (Ted) Wheeler and Elizabeth (Beth) Garven Dalgliesh Wheeler. He passed away at his home in Marigold Manor, Raymond, Alberta on the morning of November 18, 2021.
He leaves to mourn: his brother Allan (Mary A) Wheeler of Reston, Manitoba and 2 sisters Carol Demas of Raymond, Alberta and Mary L Wheeler of Winnipeg, Manitoba
15 nieces and nephews: Michael (Christy) Demas, Mark (Val) Demas, Lynne (David) Hartley, Matthew (Misty) Demas, Laura (Greg) White, Corine Demas, Lehi (Amber) Demas, Alastair (Rhessieleen) Wheeler, Vaughan (Cindy) Wheeler, Ian (Elizabeth) Wheeler, Eric (Cortney) Wheeler, Marc Wheeler, Christopher (Jenn) Sanderson, Jonathan Sanderson, and Laura (Louis Vautour) Sanderson, and 27 great nieces and nephews, and 2 great great nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, great nephews Connor Demas and Dylan Smyth-Demas, and great grand niece Presley Demas.
Family was important to Garven. He especially loved his nieces and nephews. They loved him, and have fond and funny memories of experiences with him. His Alberta nieces and nephews call him Uncle G, as do many of their friends.
Garven grew up on a farm in southern Manitoba where he learned to be responsible and to work hard. In his younger years he helped coach a Midget hockey team, which he really enjoyed. For most of his working life he worked on the pipeline, usually in northern Alberta. He was affectionately called ‘Wheels’ by his pipeline friends. He loved to drive fast cars, and to go to hockey and baseball games. He was a loud, enthusiastic fan.
Most notable among the cars he owned over the years is the 1969 red convertible Road Runner. He was adventuresome as evidenced by his tour of the eastern United States on his Honda Goldwing motorcycle.
He defended what is right even in uncomfortable situations. His family remembers how he liked to joke around and tease. He was charitable and compassionate. With his close friends and family, he was the life of the party. He was gregarious, generous and kind.
In his own way he was a spiritual man, with an abiding faith in God. He believed that he would be reunited with his family in the next life. He looked forward to celebrating with them one day.
We will miss his big smile, his sly humour, and his generous heart.
We plan to have a graveside service at Woodlands Cemetery at Treherne, Manitoba (our home community) for friends and family sometime late next spring.
