MacNeil, Francis Gerard – It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved father, brother, and uncle, Francis Gerard MacNeil “Fra”, age 79, of Wittenburg. Francis passed away peacefully in Colchester East Hants Health Centre on February 11, 2021.
Born in New Waterford, he was the oldest of 12 children. Francis began working at a young age mining coal. He went on to become a carpenter and took tremendous pride in his craft. He loved nature and his greatest passion was hunting and fishing. In his later years, he loved telling those life stories over a game of cards.
Francis is survived by daughter, Rhonda (Larry) Levy and grandson, Brandon Levy, Lower Sackville; brothers, Rodrick (Diane), Wittenburg; Kevin (Dody), Wittenburg; Charles (Bernadette), Sydney; sisters, Helen Boise, Irish Vale; Beverley (Donald) Corbett, New Waterford; Sheila Kennedy, Halifax; Irene Chant (Jim Brown), Wittenburg; Louise MacNeil, New Waterford; Muriel (Douglas) Lively, Beaver Bank; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Francis was predeceased by his wife, Lynne (Doyle); father, John Rodrick; mother, RoseAnn (Hill); brother, Malcolm; and baby sister, Louise.
Per family wishes, there will be no public service. Cremation has taken place and there will be a celebration of life at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
