Francis “Frank” Michael Bruce
October 08, 1936 – November 03, 2021
It is with deep sorrow and much love, we announce the passing of “Poppy” Francis (Frank) Michael Bruce, age 85, on November 3, 2021 at the Dartmouth General Hospital with his family by his side.
Frank was predeceased by his parents, Michael & Martha (Whiffen) Bruce, Siblings; Elizabeth, Thomas, Margaret and Michael, Son, Stephen.
Frank is survived and will be remembered by his loving wife and soul mate, Jennifer (Borden), Sisters; Mary Lasaga & Ida Bruce, Children; Robert (Kathy), Andrea (Barry) and Rhonda (Mike), Grandchildren; Michael, Brittany, Kiefer, Morgan, Erica & Jake, Great Grandchildren; Tyairah & Mahlik.
Born in Long Harbour, Newfoundland, Frank’s trip of a lifetime was always a trip back home. He spent more than 60 years as a highly skilled plasterer. A craft he took great pride in. His work was held at a high regard by many. Even after retirement, which was late in life, Frank could always be found doing a few favors for loved ones.
Frank was a presence who made a huge difference in many lives. He left his mark on all of us. No matter whom you were, Frank gave you a sense of belonging. He was full of encouragement, comfort and wisdom. Frank was genuine, a real teddy bear, with the heart of a lion whom sugar coated nothing. You could always be sure to get the truth even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear. He had a real good knack for telling it like it is.
Frank would tell you his biggest accomplishment was his family. His deepest passion was Jennifer. You could see his devotion in the way he looked at her. The way he spoke to her was something out of fairy tales. Jennifer was his Queen.
Frank had numerous family and friends. He possessed an extreme love for his extended family, many nieces & nephews, whom he treated like his own. Frank loved everyone like they were family. His focus was spending time with family; Sunday dinners (which at times included any stragglers that may be around), shed parties, sleepovers, ‘Boilermakers’, going to Bingo, and belting out the lyrics to an old ‘Georgie’ song.
The family wishes to send special thanks to the staff at the Dartmouth General Hospital, Dr. Preston, Dr. Richardson, Nurse Ashley, Keirsten from the Inspire program, the VON staff for all their care and compassion. Jim & Nikki for their recent week long care for Frank and PJ for his continued love and support.
As per Franks wishes there will be no funeral services. There will be a celebration of life held at the family home on 48 Romkey Drive in Eastern Passage on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 2pm and as Frank would say “Everyone is welcome!”
Donations can be made in memory of Frank and/or honor of Frank’s grandson, Kiefer, to the Epilepsy Association of the Maritimes.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Francis Frank Michael Bruce October 08 1936 November 03 2021..
