F Robert Bob Pugh Thursday February 25th 2021

F. Robert (Bob) Pugh
Nov 25, 1937 – Feb 25, 2021
My soulmate, my rock and the love of my life gently slipped his lines and embarked on his next odyssey. I, Lesley Grace, his wife, am adrift without him.
He leaves behind his son Michael (Tay) and their children, Neo and Grace (YaYa) in England, his daughter Melanie in Toronto and his sister Nancy Graham, Dorval, Quebec. Also, a sea of relatives in several countries and an ocean of friends and neighbours everywhere.
Bob loved life and embraced it to the fullest. Sailing was his passion and in September 1996 set sail from Southampton, England on board MAIDEN, and took part in the 1996-1997 Hong Kong Challenge Around the World Yacht Race. Boats from many different countries also participated. MAIDEN was the last British boat to sail into Hong Kong before the Colony was returned to the Chinese. The race took eleven months, MAIDEN was second overall when they crossed the finish line in Cowes, on the Isle of Wight and Bob earned the right to call himself a circumnavigator. We travelled extensively, with friends and family, either by plane, train, ship, car or motor bike. We wintered in Thailand, Portugal, Florida and latterly Oakville.
A private cremation has already taken place.

  1. Bob always left his mark on people, places and things. Always great memories and photo’s and with adventure and inspiration.
Much love and blessings and centered prayers, Kent.

  2. Lesley,

My sincerest condolences on your loss. Bob was always wonderful to work with. I wish I could’ve done more for him, and you. Despite the struggles, he always had a smile and a positive attitude. He was always ready with a joke, a review of the latest book he was reading, or a story about your and his many sailing adventures. You were both such a refreshing wonderful presence.

Thoughts and prayers with you and the family.
