Rogersville- Ernest Joseph Richard passed away peacefully at the Foyer Assomption nursing home in Rogersville on November 22nd, 2021, at the age of 95. Born in Rogersville on September 14th, 1926, he was the son of the late Prospère and Marianne (Arseneau) Richard of Rogersville NB.
He worked as a carpenter in Waltham Mass, he also worked in Labrador NL, NBCC Moncton and CFB Chatham where he retired in 1990. He was a faithful member of St. Francois de Salles RC Church and le Club d’âge d’or in Rogersville NB.
Ernest was a talented musician and played several instruments but was best known for playing his fiddle. He was the life of the party and loved to tell jokes to anyone he met. He loved his family deeply and had an incomparable love for his adoring wife. Nothing brought a bigger smile to his face than seeing his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Anita (Caissie) Richard of 64 years; his children Charlene Groundwater (Moncton), Roderick (Elise), Gilles (Jeannette) of Rogersville, Maurice of Bouctouche and Janice (Lucien) Richard of Collette; a special family friend Sharon; his grandchildren: Marc (Terri-Lynn), Simon, Timmy (Samantha), Mélissa, Jessica (Randy), Justin (Meghan), Cody (Jessica), Sylvie (Christian), Nicole (Jeremy), Zacharie and Marcel; his great-grandchildren: Janie, Karlie, Greysen, Valérie, Guylène, Frédéric, Sofia and Jeremie; his sisters Elda Richard and Louina (Vincent) Caissie of Moncton, sister-in-law Eva (late Leo) Richard of Moncton, brother-in-law Leo (Gilberte) Caissie of Opasatika, ON; Goddaughter Carol Leger and Godson Ronald Richard as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter Jocelyne Richard (1978), grandson Dusty Henderson (2009), his brothers: Leo and Willie, and sisters Bella (late George) Savoie and Yvonne (late Philias) LeBlanc.

Donations can be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the Foyer Assomption Rogersville or the Rogersville Cemetery.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday November 28th at 7pm. The funerals will be held at St-François-de-Sales RC Church in Rogersville on Monday November 29th at 11am.
Visiting hours: Sunday November 28th from 7pm to 9pm and on Monday November 29th from 9:30am until departure for the funeral.
Full proof of vaccination and the wearing of a mask will be required to enter the funeral home and church.
