Obituary
Loving and beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, friend and mother-in-law, Erna left us December 17th at the age of 97.
She was born at the farm at Middle Lake, Saskatchewan in 1924, the second eldest of four daughters to Julius and Tillie Stephen.
After moving to BC, Erna met and married Edgar Boutwell, starting their married life in Trail where their first son, Terry was born. Two years later they relocated to Kelowna where their daughter Joyce was born. Sadly Joyce was born with spina bifida and did not survive infancy.
Erna and Ed welcomed their second son, Keith, three years later. Their little family lived in the same house near Kelowna General Hospital for over 60 years. Mom raised her boys, tended her garden and enjoyed camping throughout the years. She also managed to become the perfect mother-in-law!
Erna was an active member of the Kelowna Curling Club for many years and continued to watch and enjoy curling on tv in her later years. She loved her curling!!
Erna is predeceased by her husband, Edgar, her infant daughter, Joyce and younger sister Adeline.
She is survived by her son Terry (Wendy), son Keith (Chris), grandchildren, Tricia (Rory), Chad (Melanie), grandchildren Kristi, Kaitlyn and Ethan. She is also survived by her eldest sister Esther and youngest sister Armella, plus many nieces and one nephew.
We would like to thank Dr. Joshua and Janelle for their care and support over the years, especially the last few.
Erna was a sweet, gentle soul who will be deeply missed.
There will be no service due to the pandemic.
