Emerson John Stoddard
1928-2021
Emerson John Stoddard
– age 92, of Kentville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday,
September 28, 2021, in Shannex-Orchard Court with his loving wife,
Irene, by his side. Born in Yarmouth, he was a son of the late John
and Laura (Wambolt) Stoddard.
He was employed by
Maritime Tel & Tel for 41 years, living in several towns in
Nova Scotia before retiring in 1991. He was a past member of the
Amherst Lions Club, and a member of the Maritime Tel & Tel
Pioneers. He was a member of the Kentville United Baptist Church where
he served on the Board of Stewards, a Greeter, Usher and Teller. He
enjoyed working his vegetable gardens, bowling, playing badminton and
horseshoes. Perhaps most of all, he loved going for long drives,
walks, and traveling. He was known for teasing and joking around with
his family and friends.
Emerson is survived by
his wife of over 70 years, Irene; his sons, Brian (Richard) and Dan
(Darlene); his sister, Evelyn Warner and brother-in-law, Irving;
grandsons, Steve, and Nick (Jaime); granddaughter, Lauren (Borair),
great-grand children, Kurtis, Amber, Bay-leigh, Adam, and Dahlia; as
well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his
parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Gerald Stoddard and
sister-in-law, Joyce; his sister, Joyce Rogers and brother-in-law,
Jack; nephews; David Stoddard and Kevin Warner.
His family would like
to extend a special thanks to the staff, nurses, and caregivers at
Shannex-Orchard Court, Kentville for their dedication, support, and
kindness.
Cremation has taken
place. There will be no visitation by request. A funeral service will
be held on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Dr. David
Bielby officiating. All COVID-19 protocols will be respected. In lieu
of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the Kentville United
Baptist Church or a charity of choice. A video webcast will be
available at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 5, 2021. A private family
internment will take place in the Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery at a
later date. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White
