Obituary for Elizabeth McArthur Chalmers (nee Wootten)
April 3, 1948 – December 25th, 2021 With deep sadness we say goodbye to Elizabeth (Liz, Mum, Nana). Elizabeth passed away at Ina Grafton Gage care home in Scarborough, Ontario. Elizabeth is predeceased by her husband Capt. Marshall Anderson Chalmers , her father Eric Wootten , her mother Isabel McArthur Wootten and her brother Iain Wootten. She is survived by her sons Andrew and Marshall, her daughter in law Kelly, grandson Jack and granddaughter Sierra.
Liz had a big life that touched so many lives.
At the young age of 20 she fell in love with her captain , Marshall in Scotland and shortly after the were married and set sail on their journey of 18 years in West Africa in 3 different countries which brought her larger than life experiences and gave her strength, kindness and understanding.
After Africa, Liz and Marshall moved to Canada in 1982 to Quebec City and then to Ottawa, to Lefaivre and finally to Toronto.
She shared wisdom, kindness and compassion with everyone she met. Her door was always open and she was always there to chat. Liz was an amazing chef and would always always a feast on the go of worldly cuisine. Mrs C, as she was know by her son’s friends, would feed all the lads. Anyone could come over for a chat, which was always food and good advice. As such she had many other sons, everyone was family.
Our family would like to thank all the medical and care staff that blessed us with the extra years and memories we have today, from Quebec to Ottawa to Toronto.
Behind the sparkle of her blue eyes was a determined woman of strength that emboldened the strength and character of our lineages.
Rest in Peace Liz!
Love you Mum!!!
