Elaine Killam
1941-2021
Elaine M. Killam, 80, passed away
peacefully at her home in Lewis Mountain with her family by her side
on Saturday, October 23, 2021. Born in Emerson, Kent County, she was
the last surviving member of her immediate family, daughter of the
late Arnold and Viola (Bunnell) Lyons, and sister to the late Vance
Lyons who passed in childhood and Elizabeth “Betty”
Spencer.
Elaine took great pride in her family
and considered raising her children to be the most important job. She
was a wonderful wife and mother who loved her family very much and was
also very involved in helping her community. Active in the Lewis
Mountain Church, she volunteered often with the ladies in the kitchen,
as well as with VBS, and enjoyed making costumes and other artistic
endeavors through the church. She was an incredible seamstress, making
many articles of clothing and beautiful dresses and gowns for many
occasions.
Survived and sadly missed by her beloved
husband of 58 years, Bertrum Killam; children, Troy Killam, Brent
(Susan) Killam, and Tracy (Mike) Rietzel; grandchildren, Richard,
Tyler, Courtney, Marissa, and Natasha; as well as her nieces and
nephews, including Darlene Wilson, who Elaine was especially close
with.
Arrangements are in care of The
Salisbury Funeral Home (372-4800). A gathering to celebrate
Elaine’s life will be announced, and interment will be in
Lewis Mountain Cemetery, at a later date. If desired, memorials to The
Lewy Body Dementia Society (lewybody.org), The Lewis Mountain Cemetery
Fund or to a charity of your choice would be
appreciated.
