Obituary of Edith Dinga
DINGA: Edith (Mertz) –
A resident of Chatham, and formerly of Highgate, Edith Dinga passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus on Monday, April 5, 2021 at the age of 85.
Born in Gosfield South, Edith was the daughter of the late Henry and Myrtle Mertz.
Beloved wife of the late Joe Dinga.
Loving and cherished mother of the late Mary Lou Traylor (2016) (Fred), the late Dennis Dinga (2019) (Sharon), Jim Dinga (Tracy), Debbora Vink (Dan), Kevin Dinga (Kathy) and Connie Vink (Paul).
Proud Nana to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dear sister to Ray Mertz (Ann) and Carl Mertz (Helen). Predeceased by her siblings Hilda, Cecil, Doris, Garnet, Milford and Lena.
Also missed by nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Edith was the postmaster in Highgate for 19 years. She enjoyed puzzles, knitting, quilting, ceramics, crocheting and it was not uncommon for her to make 300 – 400 hats/toques a year to be donated to the community.
A Private Service will take place.
