It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Dr. Gabriel T. Cahill. He passed away peacefully at home at the age of 79, following a courageous battle with cancer. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Doodie (Bridget) Cahill; daughters, Suzanne (James) Findlay, Nicola Cahill, Fiona (Eric) Lavoy; son, Ronan Cahill; grandchildren, Megan, Sarah, Kaitlyn and Declan Findlay, Connor and Adam Hoag, and Hannah and Maeve Lavoy; brother Sean (Madge) Cahill; sister, Pauline Henry and sister in law Mabel, both in Ireland. He was predeceased by his parents John and Rose Cahill; brother, Frank and brother in law, Tom Henry.
Gabriel was born and raised in Galway, Ireland and immigrated to Canada in 1970 with his wife and two young children. He will be remembered fondly for his quick wit, famous dance moves, love of life and care and commitment to his role as a family physician, to which he retired from his practice this August.
He also leaves to mourn many other extended family members and friends. The family is grateful for the friendship, love and support that was extended to him, in particular to Dr. Eamon Cunningham, as well as the medical support provided by Dr. North, Dr. LaBuick, and the homecare practitioners.
A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 7, 2022, at Connelly-McKinley St. Albert Funeral Home, 9 Muir Drive, St. Albert. The Funeral Liturgy will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at the same location.
