Douglas Roger Joseph Mercey of Hanover, passed away peacefully at home, on Thursday, October 28, 2021. He was 86.
Beloved husband of Pat (Eby). Loving father of Cathy (Andy) Harron, Kim (Dennis) Wettlaufer, all of Hanover, Michele Cassidy of Guelph and David (Kelly) Mercey of Welland. Cherished grandfather of Brandy (Shane) Lester, Jennifer (Jeff) Green, Todd Cassidy, Derek (Claire) Wettlaufer, Daniel (Hose) Cassidy, Branden Mercey (Zoe), Jarred Mercey, Rehgyn Mercey, Jakob Harron (Sadie) as well as great-grandchildren Tyson, Emmerson, Tava, Reid, Jaxx, Emma, and Frank. Doug will be dearly missed by his sisters Joan Dekruyf of Orillia and Janet Ottman of Kitchener. He was predeceased by his brothers-in-law John Dekruyf, Royal Ottman, and his parents Harold and Ellen (Holden) Mercey.
Visitation will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, Hanover on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 from 12 noon until the time of the Funeral Mass at 2 p.m. Cremation will follow with inurnment in the Hanover Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Holy Family building fund (please make cheques payable to Holy Family Catholic Church) would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
