Obituary of Dorothy Patience BAGLEY (nee Fursee)
July 28, 1935 – London, England
February 12, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta
Dorothy Patience Bagley, beloved wife of David Bagley of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, by natural causes, on Friday, February 12, 2021 at the age of 85 years.
Dorothy had a fulfilling life in which she studied to become a physio therapist. She first worked in London, England, and then went to work in Norway. She subsequently worked at the General Hospital in Calgary. She met her loving husband David behind Norquay Mountain. They married in 1965, and were blessed to have six children.
Dorothy worked at Quest helping children with disabilities and then volunteered at A.R.B. 1. (The Association for the Rehabilitation of the Brain Injured) helping patients learn to walk again. She was an active member of St. Peter’s Anglican Church, and acted as the president for the A.C.W. (Anglican Christian Women association).
She loved the outdoors, hiking, skiing, bird watching and stopping to cherish the wildflowers in the mountains. She enjoyed knitting and made countless beautiful sweaters for her family and grandchildren. She loved music, singing as she worked, and she played the flute. She was an excellent baker, making countless cakes. She embraced life with her belly dancing and women studies. She spent lots of time working in her garden. Mom volunteered with numerous groups, giving her time to raise funds, awareness and support. She enjoyed reading and completing the daily crossword. Anyone who entered the Bagley house was greeted with a hug from mom and a sincere welcome. On her daily walks at the Glenmore reservoir with Dave, she stopped to talk to everyone, especially mothers with children and showed interest in them. She loved making new friends everywhere she went.
Besides her loving husband, Dorothy is survived by her six children and their families, Jonathan and Sheila Bagley (Benjamin and Sarah), Frances Bagley, Martin and Kim Vincent (Sophie), Anne and Mike Logan (Evan, Skylar and Linden), Heather MacDonald (Kyle, Ella and Julia), Rosina and Jay Pearce (Zachary, Alexandra an Aiden). She was predeceased by her siblings, Sylvia Hay and Michael Fursee; and her parents, Doris and Edward Fursee.
