Obituary of Dorothy Gow
Dorothy Gow (née Wilson)
1933 – 2021
Dorothy Ann Gow passed away September 2, 2021 at The Grove in Arnprior following a brief illness. Born and raised in Ottawa, she was the sister of the late Jim Wilson. Dorothy was a proud graduate of Lisgar Collegiate and enjoyed attending reunions.
Loving wife to Barry for 68 years, she was a devoted mother to their children, Brian (Nadine Fox) and Heather (John Earl). Proud grandmother to Russell & Hayley Gow and Maddy & Andrew Earl. She worked for the Ottawa fire department before leaving to raise her family. A good neighbour and friend, she warmly received everyone who came to her kitchen table; she was a true listener, generous with her time, her advice, and her delicious cookies. She adored the many dogs in her life and eagerly embraced the new arrivals that Brian brought home. The backyard pool was a favorite gathering spot, where she enjoyed a good gin and tonic with friends. A master gardener whose plants still grace the yards of every house her family lived in, she loved plants of all kinds. Friends still have clippings from those gardens and she was the plant expert everyone called for advice. She loved her home on Bass Lake, travelled to many places, rode an elephant in Thailand, collected rocks from all over the world that she carefully catalogued, and enjoyed keeping her backyard feeders filled for visiting birds. Her loving hugs, sense of humour and kind heart will be sorely missed.
A private burial is planned. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society in her honour.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Dorothy
