Doreen V. Mary Young

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Doreen Young announce her passing at Central Heath in Springdale on August 24, 2021.
Doreen was born in Wards Harbour to the late Gordon and Elsie Bennett and moved to Beachside at the age of 12, she began working at service maid duties at 13 up until she married Sandy Young in 1951. Working alongside her husband (drying fish, making hay, growing vegetables) until later opening her own business in 1964 where she put in 12 hour days, 6 days a week for some 25 years and raising a family.
In 1956 she gave her heart to the Lord and diligently set her mind to teaching us what the Bible had to say about all aspects of life and spent 40 years serving in Sunday School and church and never wavered. Her Faith was strong and her work ethic was relentless in all avenues of life.
Doreen is predeceased by parents, Gordon and Elsie Bennett, husband Sandy, son in law Verden Locke, siblings: Edna, Patricia, Freeman, Lloyd, Cyril and Stewart.
She leaves with fond and loving memories: Marden (Joan) of Beachside, Ada of Beachside, Roger (Mary) of GFW, Sterling (Glenda) of GFW, Sandra (Shawn) of Middle Arm.
Grandchildren: Cathy (Roy), Peggy, Rex (Susie), Lyndon (Sylvie), Leroy (Gina), Alexander, Sara (Michael) and Adrienne and a number of great grandchildren.
