Donkervoort, Sarah (née Mullin)
June 10th, 2021
April 14, 1926 – June 10, 2021
It is with immense sadness we announce the passing of Sarah Edith Donkervoort in her 96th year. Cherished mother to Ferne Upson (Rolland). Treasured Nanny of Shawn (Shelly) and Tania. Loving Granny Tanny to Sydney, Carter, Abigail and Caleb. Dear sister to Junior (Norman)(Gladys). Affectionately known as Aunt Tanny by her many nieces and nephews. Waiting to greet her are husband, Casey; parents, Nora (Patterson) and Norman; and siblings: Daphne, Rhoda, Dora, Greta, and Buddy (Homer).
Tanny enjoyed playing cards, arguing on the phone with Daphne and taking care of her home and gardens. Her wicked sense of humour lives on in her grandchildren. Without question, her greatest joy in life was her family. Everyone knew there would always be a place for them at Aunt Tanny’s. She left a mark on every person lucky enough to cross paths with her, but no words can really do justice to the impact she had. We’re forever in her debt for the lessons that she taught us whether we wanted to learn them or not.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Village of Glendale Crossing for their care and compassion. Cremation has taken place. We will gather to celebrate Tanny once COVID-19 restrictions have been reduced. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Sarah are asked to consider the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
