Donald’s Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Donald Raymond Cox announces his passing at the Upper River Valley Hospital on November 16, 2021.
Donald was born on October 25, 1934, at the Carleton Memorial Hospital. He was the son of Lewis Edward Cox and Pearl Edna (Albright) Cox. Donald is survived by his wife of 67 years Myrna (Moorcroft) Cox. A son Dale (Kathy), daughter Brenda, grandchildren Jason (Maressa) Cox, Jennifer (Thomas) Collier, five Great Grandchildren Hannah & Logan Cox, Leah, Kohan, and Klaire Collier. One sister Eva (Wendell) Smith of Manotick, ON as well as many nieces and nephews. Donald was predeceased by a daughter Rhonda Marie and nephew Stephen Smith.
Donald joined his father at L.E. Cox which became L.E. Cox & Son and after a few years in operation became Cox’s Shoe Store Ltd. Donald was the owner of Cox’s Shoe Store Ltd where he and his wife Myrna worked. Donald was the founder and past president of Tarp-Rite Inc. & Arch Span Buildings
Donald was the president of the Rotary Club 1973-1974 and he remained an active member of the community as a Rotarian for over 55 years until his passing. He received numerous awards including the Paul Harris Fellowship Award. Donald was also a captain in the 89th Battery Field Regiment. Donald loved to fish and hunt and maintain his golf course in Grafton Heights.
Resting at the Scott Funeral Home, 815 Main Street, Woodstock, NB
The family is planning a private visitation at the Scott Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at 2 pm from the Scott Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Michael Goodfellow will be officiating, with interment in the Woodstock Rural Cemetery.
Proof of double vaccination and you must wear a mask is to attend due to covid 19.
If desired, donations may be made to a memorial of the donors choice
The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the URVH staff and ambulance attendants for their care shown to Don.
