Mr. Don Corns of High River, Alberta passed away at the Foothills Country Hospice on July 16, 2021 at the age of 86 years.
Don is survived by his children Cathy Corns, Chris Corns, Marie (John) Corns, Roger (Peach) Corns and Michael (Cherie) Corns, Valerie Larsen, Lynda (Elmer) Larsen, Laurie (Chris) Martel; Grandchildren Carlee, Andre, Joelle, Tessa, Kendra, Dana, Easton, Caleb, Connor, Corinne and Great-Grandchild Dante. Don is also survived by his sister-in-law Bev Hari and a wealth of nieces and nephews who have brought him enormous joy and affection.
Putting a smile on the face of everyone he met, Don was born in Moose Jaw, SK to Herbert and Bernice, marrying Diane (Do) Leitch in Calgary (1960). They raised 5 children together in Haysboro, until Do’s passing (1979). Providing countless memorable times for the neighbourhood, with motorcycle rides, barbecues and a homemade ice rink in the large backyard for all to enjoy.
Don wed Avalon Larsen (1981) welcoming her 5 children and embracing the growth and love of family. Together they cherished and strengthened the lives of their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with their laughter, get-togethers and faith during 32 years of marriage.
Working many fruitful years in plumbing, sprinkler fitting, and custodian with the Calgary Catholic School district, he also enjoyed marshalling at River’s Edge Golf Course and greeting at Walmart in his retirement. He spent most of his adult life in service with the Knights of Columbus, was a fourth degree Knight and had the honour of being Grand Knight in High River.
Predeceased by his wives Diane Corns (1979) and Avalon Corns (2013), Keith and David (Joan) Larson, granddaughter Emily, his brother Herbert and wife Betty, sister Marie and husband Garey Cameron, sister-in-laws Sue and husband John Higgins, Eve Leitch and brother-in-law and Dale Hari.
Prayer services for Don will be held on Thursday, July 29th at 7:00 p.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in High River. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 30th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. The family welcomes you to the parish hall for refreshments after the service.
