Donald Cook Wheeler – born June 11, 1956. Died October 3, 2021, peacefully surrounded by his family.
Besides his mother, May Elizabeth Wheeler, Donnie is survived by Theresa McGinnis, his love of over 20 years, his daughters Sandie Dauphinee (Jeremy) and Cherie Wheeler McLeod (Andrew), his three grandchildren, Lyla Dauphinee, Jace Dauphinee and Oriana McLeod, Theresa’s children Brad Edwards and Ann Marie Edwards, his sisters, Marsha Eddy (Michael), Joan Edwards and Lynn Purdy, and his brother, Scott Wheeler (Christine). Donnie was predeceased by his father, Donald Cook Wheeler Senior, and his brother Richard Wheeler. Donnie is also survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins and other extended family members.
Donnie spent 28 years working at Bell Aliant before retiring and spending several years at Autoport post-retirement. Donnie was very passionate about sports and was a lifelong supporter of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Donnie could be found in his garage in his spare time, working on his Camaro while listening to Rod Stewart.
Donnie loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Donnie loved cheering them on at their games. Donnie also loved camping with his family and friends, fishing with his brother Scott and going to Economy with his friend George. Donnie also enjoyed spending Thursdays at coffee with Kevin and the gang, as well as driving his Camaro. Donnie was happiest outdoors hunting, or even just looking for deer on the horizon. Visitation will be 6:00-9:00 p.m. Thursday October 7, 2021 at Eastern Passage Community Funeral Home, 5 Cow Bay Road, Eastern Passage. Covid protocols will be followed, proof of double vaccination will be required for those attending.
Donnie was well loved and will be missed by everyone who knew him.
