Dona Beatrice Ranasinghe Saturday March 13th 2021

Dona Beatrice Ranasinghe passed peacefully at the Guelph General Hospital on Saturday March 13, 2021 in the presence of her loving family. At 92 Dona was the widow of her beloved husband of 60 years Don Reginald Gunawardana, the loving mother of Nilmini, Dona Kumidini, Lakmini, the mother-in-law of Chula, Edward, Don, a devoted Acha to Dakshitha, Seneca, Mevan, Minoli, Connor, Ryan, Emma and a proud Mi-Acha to Kaya, Celeste and Adelyn.
Beatrice was born in Colombo, Sri Lanka in 1928 and grew up with two brothers, a sister and two loving parents. She devoted her time, as an English teacher, to sharing her passion for education with others and supporting her students in their pursuit of higher success.
She was a devoted Buddhist, committed philanthropist, avid gardener and a wonderful cook. She spend much or her life loving and caring for her children and grandchildren, and passing on her passion for reading and cooking. Time away from her family was often focused on philanthropic endeavors in SriLanka, where she funded many passion projects.
Beatrice was much loved by her family and friends and her strength, kindness and quick wit will be dearly missed.
Due to the pandemic a small ceremony will be held at 1:30 pm on Tuesday March 16, 2021 and attendees can join via Zoom link. Please note that a broader in person ceremony will be held once pandemic restrictions have lifted.
As an expressions of sympathy, donations to The West End Buddhist Temple would be appreciated by the family.
