WHITSON, Dolores Faye
Dolores Faye Whitson of Allan, SK and formerly of Nipawin, SK, Daughter of Mike and Lillian Piluk, passed away with family on March 22, 2021 at the age of 78 at Parkridge Centre in Saskatoon. Devoted Wife of the late Vern Whitson, loving Mother of Daughter Kathleen and Son Vern, adored and proud Grandmother of three Grandsons, Jeffrey, Jamie and Karter Lafontaine, and sweet Sister to Evelyn Diederichs, Millie (Jim) Brownell, Beverley (Keith) MacDonald and Liza (Tim) Perkins. Dolores was an amazing woman and exceptional teacher for 27 years at numerous places; Baffin Island, Nunavut and the Yukon, as well as Prince Albert, Grey and Montmartre. She was dedicated to education and made learning fun for her students through her creativity and love for teaching. She was also an artistic painter and enjoyed many arts and crafts. After retiring in Allan, SK with her husband she was a committed volunteer and devoted to the Royal Purple Hearts, Bowling club and Museum committee. Mom was involved in the community where she lived and was always there to offer a helping hand where needed. Dolores loved gardening, growing flowers and was a true nature lover. She would always have great stories to share of growing up on the farm near Nipawin. She had an amazing sense of humour and would always see the positive side in every situation. She enjoyed reading a good book, especially autobiographies and really enjoyed listening to music, such as songs by Willie Nelson, Elvis Presley and Johnny Reid. She had a special passion for sports; curling, figure skating and hockey games. Mom always made delicious meals for her family. Her amazing baking of pies, yummy sugar cookies and creative gingerbread men will be missed. Dolores was a special and extremely strong woman who touched the lives of many people in her journey, always with a big beautiful sparkling smile, loving heart and spirit. It was a blessing to have known her as she was such an inspiration and caring person. She was loved by all who knew her and will always be our sweet angel watching over us. A Celebration of Dolores’ Life will be held at a later date.
