Dolores’ Obituary
Our friend and kindred spirit, Dolores Edna LaRose ended her journey in this world and returned to Our Father in heaven on February 6, 2021. She was thankful for the friendship of Fr. Roberto Donato and the Franciscans of Halifax who journeyed with her through her last days.
Daughter of Lawrence LaRose and Edna Soucy, Dolores was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts on March 19, 1932. She came to Halifax in the 1970’s to follow her vocation of teaching, sharing her wisdom and knowledge beyond the classroom to all those she encountered throughout her life. She was predeceased by her parents and sister Doris.
Dolores’ understanding of the mystery of life was formed early through childhood experiences, devotion to the Catholic Church, working in education, and contemplative prayer practice. She was graced with wisdom and insight into sending the perfect greeting or gift to friends to mark special occasions in their lives.
In her later years and during her illness, Dolores was comforted by her friends and family, most especially, Anna, Mary Joe, Sylvia, Carla, Franklyn, Grace, Elaine, Ferris, and her personal physician and faithful friend Dr. E. Johnson.
We want to express our appreciation to the nurses and doctors from the QEII Health Sciences Centre, most particularly 5A who assisted Dolores in her last days. Her strength was a reflection of her faith. We will remember those who cared for her with dignity and kindness.
A private family visitation and Funeral Mass will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Church with Fr. Pio Libby, FoH, presiding Saturday, February 13th at 10:00am.
Those wishing to honour her life may make a donation in her memory to the Franciscans of Halifax Society. Online condolences can be sent by visiting www.dartmouthfuneralhome.ca
