DIENER, Rose Eleanor
—
On December 12, 2021, at the age of 86, our beautiful wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma, aunt, sister, and friend passed peacefully from this life into the loving arms of Jesus with her family at her side. Even in the midst of her nine-year struggle with Alzheimer’s disease, her sweet, loving nature still radiated through.
Until we meet again, Rose will be lovingly remembered by her beloved husband of 67 years, Walter Diener; her children, Jerry (Reneyah) Diener and Brenda (Kevin) Heide; her eight grandchildren, Lindsey (Andrew) Tritter, Joya Fanslau, Jeremy (Breanne) Heide, Brittany (Ryan) Brammer, Joshua (Melissa) Diener, Jonah (Veronica) Diener, Kristy (Joshua) Field, and Jewelya Diener; and her eleven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Frieda and Reinhold Weiss.
Rose was born in Silver Grove, SK and was raised on their family farm, the eldest of five children. In 1952, she met Walter, and they were married on August 12, 1954, in Silver Grove. Over their 67 years together, Rose and Walter lived in Edmonton, AB, Drayton Valley, AB, Fort McMurray, AB, and now in Kelowna, BC since 1980.
Rose was an amazing wife and mother. She was clearly gifted in hospitality, known for her warmth and acceptance, and loved to entertain and cook for the steady stream of visitors to her home. She worked tirelessly alongside Walter in their first business venture, which was opening a department store in Fort McMurray in the late sixties. Rose and Walter loved to travel, and through the years visited many countries. She also loved RV traveling and many miles were put on across Canada and the USA. She absolutely loved being a grandma, and her grandchildren adored her. She invested so much into their lives. She played the organ, piano, and sang for many years in church. She taught 2–4 year-olds in Sunday School also for many years in their church in Kelowna. The children she taught only knew her as ‘Grandma Rose’ and called her that for many years after.
Rose accepted Christ as her Lord and Saviour as a teenager and lived her life loving and following Jesus. She reflected God’s love so beautifully with the tenderness and care she bestowed to everyone that crossed her path. One of her grandchildren described her this way, “She was the safest and softest place I’ve ever known”. We believe this sentiment was likely shared by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A celebration of Rose’s life will be held in the New Year.
