Dennis Gillich, beloved husband of Joan Gillich, passed away at Regina General Hospital, Regina, on Friday, October 8th, 2021 just days before his 77th birthday.
Funeral service from G.R.Carscadden Funeral Chapel, Moosomin, on Thursday, October 21st at 11:00 a.m. with Sheilagh Garrett officiating. Interment in Riga Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the Riga Cemetery in memory of Dennis.
Dennis Michael Gillich was born October 21, 1944 in Humboldt, Sk to John and Anna (Gebkenjans) Gillich. Dennis was the 7th of 13 children. He attended school firstly at Iona School and then took his final year in Moosomin. Unlike the rest of the Gillich family who left the farm at one time or another, Dennis dedicated his entire lifetime to working on the farm, choosing not to work anywhere else. Thus, it seems only fitting that Dennis should become the sole owner of the land the Gillich family all started out on. Dennis married Joan Merle Shire on August 12, 1975 and together they shared the trials and tribulations of being farmers. Dennis and Joan farmed the same four quarters of land that his father, John Gillich, purchased when he first arrived in Moosomin in 1950.
Dennis is predeceased by his parents, John and Anna Gillich; by his step father Olaf (Ollie) Holm; by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry and Hilda Shire; by his brother Wilfred Gillich; his in-laws Anna Marie Gillich, John McKinnon, Steve Rawlyk, Jack and Marjory Shire; and by his nieces Shannon Gillich and Laurel Shire Cook.
Dennis is survived by his wife Joan of 46 years; by his brothers and sisters Joseph (Juanita), Catherine, Theresa, Henry, Anthony (Arden), Bernard (Connie), Agnes (Laurie), Elizabeth (Dave), Alphonse (Marilyn), Andrew (Jean) and Leo (Mary); brother-in-law Eric Shire (Sherry) and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Dennis will be missed by family, friends and neighbours.
