I am heartbroken to announce the passing of Dee on Nov.12/21 at RCH New West. BC
Dee was born and raised in northern Alberta with her parents Paul and Helen Toutant and baby sister Myrtle Bea who sadly passed of leukemia in 1953 leaving Mom an only child.(something Mom never truly got over) In 1961 she married my father Raymond Simpson and went on to have 3 children of which, sadly, they lost 2 (Tracey 1962, Kimberly 1967) In 1966 the family moved to Vernon BC where Dee started working for Bank of Montreal. After her divorce from Ray, she went on to pursue a career in the bank transferring to Clinton, Merritt, Quesnel and finally Sundre Alberta as a branch manager. While in Merritt she found happiness again and married Gordie Davidson. After a few years in Sundre, Dee retired and she and Gordie ran a couple of coffee trucks which she enjoyed. In 1996 Dee and Gordie moved to High Prairie to look after her parents. Mom nursed Grandma through alzheimer’s and enabled her to stay at home until almost the very end. Sadly Gordie passed of cancer and Grandpa passed also the same year leaving Mom alone.(Thank you so much Darcy and family for your care of Mom at this time) After 6 years of nudging (if you knew mom you know she would NOT be pushed around!) I convinced her to return to BC. She moved to Maple Ridge in 2006 and had 14 good years with Tom, Brandon and I. I always knew she was happy with the decision as she often stated ” I transplanted well!” or ” I just love Maple Ridge! It’s so pretty here!” I take comfort in that and the fact that she is no longer suffering. I am, and will be eternally grateful for the blessing of my beautiful mother, my first and best friend always. Left to mourn Dee are myself, (Michelle), Tom and Brandon Steinberg, Moms son and family (in love) Darcy, Sherrie, William, Holly Foster, best friend of almost 70yrs Carole Rose and several cousins. RIP my beautiful Mama!
