It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father and grandfather, David John Everett on August 28, 2021 at the age of 75 years. David was born in Southampton, England on June 16th, 1946. At the age of 16 he completed his studies at Southampton College of Technology Catering Department and began working as an Apprentice Chef at Balmer Lawn Hotel in Brokenhusrt. It was here he met his future wife Maria. In 1966 David obtained his Chef Diploma and that same year he and Maria were married. In 1968, they immigrated to Canada and spent their first three years in Calgary working several jobs each. In 1971 they purchased Mountain Peaks Restaurant in Canmore, Alberta. Only 3 years later they had saved enough to sell Mountain Peaks and purchase the old Bay Warehouse in downtown Red Deer converting it into the original Ranch House Restaurant. From then on David just kept working, opening several more Ranch House Restaurants, Houlihans, the Wildflower Bistro and lastly, the present day Ranch House Restaurant & Bar in 2004. Those of you who knew him, know his ambition and drive for business were as unmatched as his love for his family. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He will be forever missed by his daughter Nicola, grandsons Mateo and Nathan, son in law Juanjo, his brother Ken, sisters Sylvia and Beryl, sisters and brothers in law, nieces and nephews. We want to thank our family, especially Conchita and her family, and our dear friends for their strength, support and love during this past year and always. For that and much more, we thank you. At David’s request there will be no public funeral service. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Canadian Cancer Society.
