CROSBY Philip Bruce “Skip December 10 1945 — June 4 2021

CROSBY, Philip Bruce “Skip”
December 10, 1945 — June 4, 2021
Skip (Philip) Bruce Crosby passed away suddenly on June 4, 2021, in his own home. Skip was a proud man and would never share his health concerns with anyone, he often stated in his final days “I am fit as a fiddle.”
Skip was an avid outdoorsman and could travel the back country roads of British Columbia without a single map and enjoyed doing this in every spare moment he had. His photography is a testament to this as his cottage walls were adorned with large canvas prints of his favorite photos of the views, waterfalls and mountains he encountered in his journeys.
Skip started an ATV club years ago and many, muddy rides created incredible memories for all that joined in on the fun! He recently bought a Honda Talon Side by Side and unfortunately was never able to Christen his new ride on the open trails. He did, however, have many opportunities to take his granddaughter Winter and her friends all around the acreage picking flowers and being goofy and, in these moments, his face beamed with pride, love and happiness.
Skip had a work ethic unmatched. Some of his lengthy careers include the Calgary Police, RCMP, Lavington Glass Plant and most recently Vernon Taxi. He worked incredibly hard all his life and would do anything for his employers and co-workers. It was evident that his last job with Vernon Taxi was incredible rewarding. Skip was a social butterfly and knew everybody in town as he had grown up in Vernon. Being able to see so many people daily, often people he knew, was a bright light in his days. He always spoke of the great conversations he had with new people, but he also received endless personalized rides, which he loved. If you called and asked for Skip or “Car 6”, you knew you would be smiling and laughing the whole way home and that you would get there safely.
Skip radiated energy and enthusiasm. He loved telling stories, and he had an abundance to share with anyone in his company.
Besides his family, there was no greater love for Skip than the love he had for his Pug, Peanut, and his French Bulldog, Bebe. His four-legged family miss him terribly but have found new, loving homes that will undoubtedly shower them with endless love and cuddles!
Skip is survived by his daughter Kari Starr and her children Terrick Crosby and Winter Starr; his daughter Michelle (Brad) Fillion and her children Marie and James Fillion; his sisters Pat Taylor and Micki (Lee) Voth and his brothers Larry and Ian (Margaret) Crosby. Skip had many nieces, nephews, and extended family that called him Uncle Skip, and you could see the pride in his eyes when he talked with them or took them for rides in his boat or on his ATV. Skip was also “Pops” to anyone not genetically related to him because that is the love he felt for everyone, they were all family. Skip was predeceased by his mother Joan Zavaglia. Each and every one of the people in Skip’s life were loved unconditionally and completely by him.
Skip had a close-knit group of friends that meant the world to him, and they regularly went on camping trips, day trips through the mountains on the ATVs and spent a lot of time together. Patti, Devin, Tony, Liz, Ron and Maureen – you were so very special to Skip and you made his life better every day by being a part of it.
A Celebration of Life will be held when the restrictions of gatherings are lifted to ensure any and all who want to share stories and celebrate the incredible man Skip Crosby was, are able to be there!
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the SPCA, as Skip’s love for his dogs was everything.
Skip, Pops, Dad – You will never leave us as your memory will live on forever in our hearts.
