Corey Ernest Thordarson
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Corey Ernest Thordarson announces his sudden passing in Calgary, Alberta on January 4, 2021.
Corey was born in Selkirk, Manitoba on May 14, 1974.
Left to cherish his memory, Corey is survived by his wife of 14 years, Amber; his parents Eggert and Lillian; siblings Tom, Susie and Harvey Thordarson; sister-in-law Sarah Frank; brother-in-law Isaiah Wolf Tail; nephew Jamie; nieces Shania, Cheyenne, Kaitlyn, Tanisha Thordarson, Sorayya Frank (Chase Healy) ; special great-nephews Leyton, Bryden and Deacon; great niece; Everly Lily Rose ; aunties, Linda Smith, Shirley (Geordie) Selkirk, Adine(Norman) Lischynski; uncles, Cyril (Shirley) Thordarson, Melvin (Donna) Thordarson, Reg Thordarson and Ernie Mowat; Amma Myrtle Thordarson; In-Laws Franklin and Pam Wolf Tail; Special Aunty Gayle Strikes With A Gun; along with numerous cousins, friends and extended family in Alberta;
Corey was predeceased by his Avi Stefan Thordarson; grand-parents Tom and Nora Mowat.
Corey was the most caring,kind and energetic individual that loved his family dearly. He lived his best life each and every day; enjoying his seasonal campsite at Rubber Ducky Resort; you would always find him poolside, cooking over the open fire, and ending the day with a bonfire listening to his favorite music while dancing and joking with the people he loved most. Corey was also very fond of his nephew Jamie, never missing a game or practice you’d always see him in the stands no matter where in north america he was.
Corey was an active person playing Spongee in the Kildonan Spongee League with Freezer Burn, each winter; he played baseball in the Aboriginal League. He enjoyed watching hockey and his team, the Winnipeg Jets; catching Toronto Blue Jays games at the old Sky Dome, Kauffman Stadium and Fenway Park; Corey always had a love for the mountains and camping.
Corey had a passion for travelling allowing him to live in several different places around Canada. Corey lived in Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto, Carman, Portage La Prairie, Saskatoon and Peguis. Corey loved to travel and see different places across North America. He and Amber had many adventures together by visiting numerous different places.
Corey worked in HVAC and Geo-Thermal; working on commercial buildings in Winnipeg, Calgary and Toronto; he was part of a Geo-Thermal project installing units on residential homes on First Nations in Manitoba in his career. He took great pride in his work, no matter where his career took him.
No public service will be held at this time due to COVID-19 restrictions.
