Cora Moffatt November 5 1923November 9 2021

MOFFATT, Cora Jane Winnifred (nee Carher), November 5, 1923 – November 9, 2021. The family of Cora Moffatt is very sad to announce the death of their mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother on November 9th, 2021, at Woodlands of Sunset. We are very sad that she is no longer with us; however, we are very thankful that she is free of pain and struggles. We had celebrated her 98th birthday with her just four days before her passing, on November 5th. Cora Jane Winnifred Carther was born in Carman, Manitoba to parents Mary Viola Cutting and George Carther, in 1923. She was the sixth child of 11 children (Pearl, Melba, Telford, Reginald, Evelyn, Cora, Elmer, Doreen, Glen, Shirley and a baby boy), all who have predeceased her except for Shirley. Predeceased by husband Lloyd (2014). Beloved mother to Karren Collings (Jim Dalton) and Janet Collins (Rick Eller), wonderful grandmother to Christopher Collings (Heidi Collings), Cindy Collins (Rob Dickson), Michael Kusy, and Allison Cooper, and special great grandmother to Theo, Evan, and Jenna Collings, Brooke and Kyle Dickson, Jesse and Lucas Cooper. Special aunt to her nieces and nephews. Cora had many friends through the years at church, in the community and at John Deere where she worked as switchboard operator for 22 years. She was an active member of UCWs at Pelham Community Church and Central United Church for many years. Cora volunteered at both Sunset Haven and at Woodlands of Sunset for 25 years, where she was Auxiliary President. She loved her Blue Jays and Maple Leafs, watching their games with great enthusiasm. Cora enjoyed the competition playing Rummoli and Scat, but her favorite game to play was Bingo. She line danced with the Silver and Gold Line Dancers of Welland. While watching baseball and hockey on TV, Cora knitted and crocheted many afghans, most of which she donated to fundraising groups. She and Lloyd enjoyed cruises and day trips. But what she loved most was spending time with her family, attending birthdays, reunions both at home and back in Carman with her extended family of Cuttings and Carthers, and visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Cora was our special mother, a friend to many, and gave her best to whatever she did. We are very grateful to Dr. Ali and to the incredible, caring, kind staff on Cedars, at Woodlands of Sunset, who looked after her with love always. They were her angels on earth. We are also grateful to the kind, caring staff at St. Charles Village where she resided while independent, and also to Dr. Anjali Kundi. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place at Central United Church in Welland on Friday November 26th at 3:00pm, followed by a reception. Private family inurnment. All visitors will have to show proof of covid-19 double vaccination. Those who wish to attend the service for Cora must provide proof of double vaccination, government issued photo identification and must wear a face mask. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to Fanconi Canada Research on behalf of Theo, Pelham Community Church youth groups, or a charity of your choice would be much appreciated by Cora and family.
