Claudette Cormier
1941-2021
It is with great sadness that the family of Claudette Cormier of
Notre-Dame, Kent County announces her sudden passing at the Dr.
Georges L. Dumont Hospital in Moncton on February 6, 2021 at the age
of 79.
Born on April 16, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Raymond
Cormier and the late Orise (Richard) Cormier of Notre-Dame. She is
survived by one sister, Aline Gagnon (late Clarence) of Notre-Dame;
three brothers, Adélard (Mae) of St-Paul; Paul-Émile
(Florence) of St-Antoine and Maurice (Janice) with whom Claudette
resided in Notre-Dame; eleven nieces and nephews, Diane, Marcel,
Janice, Monique, Jocelyne, Gabriel, Nicole, Marc, Nathalie, Daniel and
Jolyne; several uncles, aunts and cousins and her care worker Yvette
Goguen.
Claudette was born deaf and mute and lived her entire life at
home except for her 9 academic years she spent studying at the
Montreal Deaf and Mute Institution. There she learned to read, write,
sing and housework. After the passing of her parents, Maurice and his
wife took care of her. Her favorite pastime was playing solitaire at
cards and did she ever play.
Besides her parents, Claudette was predeceased by her sister,
Yolande Poirier (Roland).
The Cormier family wishes to express sincere thanks to her care
workers over the years including the latest one Yvette Goguen as well
as to the TJ Maillet residence in Cocagne for her stay on weekends and
to their sister-in-law, Jeanne. The family is also grateful to their
brother Maurice for taking such good care of her during the last 45
years.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, funeral will take place at a
later date. Interment will be in the Notre-Dame parish cemetery. In
memory of Claudette, donations can be made to the Notre-Dame parish.

Home, Bouctouche.
