We the family regret to announce the passing of our mother Clara (Marie-Claire Bonin) at the age of 95, peacefully surrounded by her loved ones at home on May 20th, 2021. Clara was born in Caraquet, New Brunswick on October 3rd 1925, daughter of Martial Gauvin and Adenise Gionet (Gauvin). She is survived by her daughters Jeannette (Garry) Macneill Sackville, Lucy Anne (Herman) Macdonald, Rockdale, Marina (the late Carl) Walsh Sackville, Cecilia (Walter) Bona L’Ardoise, Patricia (the late Jerry) Martell L’Ardoise, Tia Bona Bedford. Clara always had a special place in her heart for Marie Prout. She is survived by her 16 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; brothers, Lionel (Vezina), Arisma (Alvine), Anthyme (Linda) all from Bas-Caraquet, New Brunswick. Sisters Jeannette, and Valeda also from Bas Caraquet New Brunswick, sister-in-law Beatrice Whitehall (Ontario) and Angeline Gauvin, brother-in-law Leonce Doiron (Bas Caraquet). She’ll be sadly missed by her fur baby, Teddy.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Lawrence Bonin of 62 years, sons Ralph and James, great great grandson Callum James, brothers Leonard, Edgar, Livain, sisters Claudia, Diana, Therese and Seneville.
Clara enjoyed family gatherings as well as a good game of cards, playing bingo, watching hockey and baseball with her husband Lawrence. While one cheered for the Montreal Canadiens, the other the Maple Leafs, they were both fans of the Toronto Blue Jays.
The family of Clara Bonin would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Cooper, Bonnie Samson, all nurses especially Leah Burns and Sarah Touesnard, care coordinator Jennifer Mombourquette, VON home support, O.T. Courtney, Vital Aire, Palliative Care and Fr. John Yake. Cecilia would like to say a very special thanks to her sister Patricia for helping in the care of their mother, also to the rest of her sisters and family.
Cremation has taken place through Green’s Funeral Home, and the celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
