Claire May Warner December 26 2021

Obituary
Claire May Warner (nee Viens) passed away peacefully on December 26, 2021 at the age of 90.
Born February 24, 1931 in Temiscaming, Quebec, her joys included the company of her family and good friends, singing, painting, playing golf, cross-country skiing and many other activities. She treasured those memories of her childhood for her entire life.
Following her marriage in 1953, she created a home for her growing family in a number of Ontario communities as her husband’s work took them, sometimes in quick succession, to Lindsay, North Bay, Sudbury, Sault Ste. Marie, Brockville and Ottawa. Wherever she lived, her deep faith led her to become a devoted parishioner of each local church, serving as Eucharistic minister, prayer team member and choir member. Most recently, she made her faith home at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Carleton Place.
She cultivated her love of music throughout her life, whether by listening to old favourites such as Bing Crosby or Andy Williams; learning to play guitar and singing folks songs with friends and family; or adding her voice to various church and community choirs over the years.
Holidays and parties were always special occasions, often complete with special costumes and decorations to celebrate days such as St. Patrick’s Day, Canada Day, Halloween, and, of course, Christmas. She also loved watching hockey games, most recently the Ottawa Senators, and enjoyed friendly rivalries with friends who cheered for other teams.
Predeceased by her husband George (“Bud”), and siblings Rita, Jacqueline, Delmer and Marcel, as well as by her daughter-in-law Denise.
She will be much missed by her children Susan (Hugh), Glenn (Hope), Linda (Hans), Bud (Denise, d. 2020), Jackie (Gord) and Connie (Brian), as well as her 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Thank you to staff at the Peter D. Clark long term care residence and the Ottawa Hospital for their care during the last days of her life. A special thank you to two “angels” who were a gift to Claire and her family, especially during the challenges resulting from the COVID pandemic: Hillary C. and Gillian K.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Claire’s memory that supports finding a cure for breast cancer or lung cancer.
An opportunity for family and friends to celebrate Claire’s life will take place at a later date.
