Obituary
It is with much love that we mourn the passing of Chiara Gratta, at the age of 91, on July 6, 2021. She rejoins her beloved husband Francesco (1999). Cherished mother of Angelina Catricala (Antonio), Domenic Gratta (Lorraine), Vittoria Gratta (Dino), Frank Gratta (Sarah), and the late Fortunato Gratta (Sylvia). Adored Nonna to Maria Catricala (Dave), Claire Bilotta (Adolfo), Elizabeth Marchese (Mario), Jenna Drawbridge (Dave), Jason Gratta (Vanessa), Mathew Quesnel (Eghosa), Jeffery Quesnel (Angela), Laura Gratta, and Zack Gratta. Much loved Nonnina to Katharine, Nathaniel, Amalia Angelina, and Emily Marie. Dear sister of Antonia Pisanti, Carla Dionne, Vincenza Catricala, Lina Laratta, and the late Giovanna Giannini, and her late brother Jim Sinopoli.
Chiara was a loving, warm and generous mother who overcame many challenges during the depression, WW2, and later with her move to Canada in the 1950s. She was a strength to her family as she raised 5 children in the small Northern Ontario town of South Porcupine. Her life centred on her family enjoying the excitement and love of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. As well, she enjoyed the company and friendship of many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

Lord, we need divine strength in the Gratta and Catricala families, especially for her daughter, Angelina Catricala; her granddaughters, Claire Bilotta, Maria and Elizabeth; her great-granddaughter, Amalia Angelina Bilotta. Fill their hearts with a deep sense of peace & courage and help them to accept that their dear one (Mother, Mother-in-law, Nonna, Zia) is now with you. Let this knowledge of Chiara joining you and reuniting with her late husband, Francesco in your kingdom be their source of comfort and strength.
