Legacy
“What will be my legacy?”
The man asks to his daughter
“Nary coin nor treasure chest, I leave a poorly father”
Pondering his inquiry
The woman taps her chin
Then, writing out his history
She says:
“Where do I begin?”
No instrument of man has played
Or fall upon mine ears
Who’ve strings have not rung out your name
And whispered:
“I am here.”
Two children has your life begot
Their likeness is of you
Though byes to them, you may have naught
Your love for them is true
Your tenderness and bravery;
A shield that never fails
And in Homeric Odyssey
We’ll all recount your tales
To what man means a legacy?
What are material things?
When your voice pierces Heaven’s cloud
Each time a gold finch sings
