Obituary
BILODEAU, Celine Charlotte
Born on April 4, 1942 in Lafleche, SK, Celine died peacefully on March 4, 2021 at Royal University Hospital after a short struggle with lung cancer.
Though faced with chronic illnesses and tough economic challenges throughout her life, Celine met adversity with a smile and an enduring optimism. Known as “Lynne” or “Linnie” to her family and friends, she lived most of her life in downtown Saskatoon. A devout Roman Catholic, Celine joined the order of the Grey Nuns but returned to secular life and worked for a number of retail outlets in downtown Saskatoon. She also served as a loving caregiver to friends in the disabled community.
She loved to do art, to socialize with friends at the Royal Canadian Legion and enjoyed talking on the phone with her numerous siblings spread across the country.
The fifth of eight children born to Joyce (Giles) and Edmond Bilodeau, Celine was predeceased by her parents, a beloved niece Laureen Zech, her brothers Michel “Mike” and Gerard “Gerry”. She is survived by her older sisters Louise Severson of Calgary, Marie Hyland of North Vancouver, Judith Bilodeau of Nanaimo, and younger siblings, Jocelyn Bilodeau and Paul Bilodeau both of Toronto, sister-in-law Margaret Bilodeau of Edmonton and many nieces and nephews and their families.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Celine’s special nieces, Michelle McPherson of Outlook and Erica Zech of Saskatoon who patiently and lovingly assisted Celine through her final years. Donations in Celine’s memory may be made to the Saskatoon Community Foundation.
