Cecil R. Lee – age 82 of Strawberry Plains passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2021. Cecil was a member of Strawberry Plains United Methodist Church and later attended Hillcrest Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran and longtime owner and operator of Stormer’s Hardware in the Carter Community before retiring in 2005. It is now owned by his son, Dusty Lee. Cecil also owned Trentville Flower Shop. Cecil’s passions were his faith, family and friends. He loved Southern Gospel Music and never missed a chance to sing. He sang with New Life Trio for many years and his now deceased buddies Don Lane and George Kirby. He later sang with Melinda Wright and Wanda White.
Preceded in death by parents, Ben I. Lee Sr. and Georgia Pike Lee; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Katherine and George Wiles; brother and sister-in-law, Ben I Lee, Jr. and Bonnie Lee; and brothers, George R. and Ralph E. Lee.
Survived by wife of 61 years, Betty Anne Lowery Lee; children, Doug Lee, Dusty (Karyn) Lee, and Dana (Chris) Rupert; grandchildren whom he loved and was very proud, Hayden Rupert, RaeAnne Rupert, Kameryn Lee, and Chase Delaney; brother, Gary (Norma) Lee; sisters-in-law, Louise Lee, Betty Trout Lee, Bebe Faye (David) Day, and Barbara Kaye (David) Wyrick; and several loving nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM Friday, June 18, 2021, at Bridges Funeral Home followed by the funeral service at 7:00 PM with Rev. Wayne Trent and Rev. Archie Elliott officiating.
