Catherine Irvine 19252021

Catherine Irvine
1925-2021
IRVINE, Catherine Lindsay (née
Donnachie),
Went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 11, 2021, in
her 96th year. She was born Catherine Lindsay Donnachie on July 21,
1925, in Ayr, Scotland, and grew up with five brothers and sisters.
During WWII, she met a young Canadian airman, Roger Irvine. Roger and
Cathie exchanged letters until after the war, when Roger sent a friend
to her door to deliver an engagement ring. She emigrated to Guelph,
Ontario, Canada and married Roger on February 1, 1947. Despite making
Canada home, she never lost her Scottish brogue or her knack for
making the perfect shortbread. Cathie is predeceased by her husband,
Roger, and her son and daughter-in-law, Don and Sue Irvine. She leaves
behind three children and their spouses: Rob and Judi Irvine, Susan
and Bryan Bitton, and Sandy and Rico Sabatini. She also leaves fifteen
grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren. The family would
like to thank all the staff of St. Luke’s Place in Cambridge
for their care and compassion.
