Carolyn “Kit”‘s Obituary
STRICKLAND, Carolyn “Kit” – of Yarmouth passed away peacefully on the MacArthur Unit at Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre, August 24, 2021. Kit was born in Yarmouth; she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Hazel (Raynes) Strickland. She enjoyed her working career, and in later years was devoted to the care of her Mom. Kit spent many years teaching Sunday School at Holy Trinity Anglican Hall, and many volunteer years preparing the church bulletins. Kit loved spending time at the family cottage “Dew Drop Inn” on Island Pond. She enjoyed taking reel to reel movies at the cottage, family events, and holidays, preserving lots of wonderful memories. Everyone enjoyed watching them on the screen. She loved her Tim Hortons double-double, and time spent having coffee with her caregiver Sandra, who Kit was very close to. The family is forever grateful for all the care, love, and kindness, all the staff gave to Kit during her time there. She is survived by brothers Wallace, Yarmouth; Richard, Winchester Ontario; sister Dolores Fry, Hebron; many nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces, and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by sisters-in-law Pearl and Margaret Strickland; brother-in-law George Fry. A private family service will be held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Yarmouth. Interment will follow in Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery. Donations may be made in Kit’s memory to The MacArthur Unit c/o KRRC, 1349 County Home Rd, Box 128, Waterville, NS, B0P 1V0 to help provide support programs and upkeep for the Wandering Garden for clients, or charity of choice.
