McCallum, Carol Anne – 73, of Truro, passed away peacefully
on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, in Colchester East Hants Health Centre,
Truro, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Truro, Carol was the
daughter of the late James and Alice (Slack) MacEachern and
step-daughter of the late Joseph MacGillivray. She was a 50 year
graduate of St. Martha’s School of Nursing, Antigonish.
Carol spent her entire nursing career at Colchester Regional Hospital,
primarily in the Intensive Care Unit, where she demonstrated her
caring, supportive, professional nature. Carol balanced her “tell
it like it is” attitude with the immense amount of kindness,
generosity and compassion that she showed to all who knew
her. She was a devoted member of Immaculate Conception
Parish. Carol loved to travel, whether it was an international trip or
a car ride on a back road. She was a happy, positive person
who enjoyed life and was always ready for an adventure. She spent the
last several years of her life travelling and checking items off her
bucket list. Carol was a huge baseball fan, whether it was watching
the major leagues or local minor baseball. Carol’s
greatest joy was her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her two children, Robbie McCallum and
Joanne (Ryan) Thibeau; grandsons, Jordan McCallum and Maddox Thibeau;
mother-in-law, Mary McCallum; special niece, Elva (Peter) Townsend;
several in-laws, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by
her husband of 41 years, Robert Alexander (Sandy) McCallum; four
brothers, Michael, Joseph, Arthur, James; two sisters, Mae and Elva;
brother-in-law, Harry McCallum; father-in-law, Laurence
McCallum. No visitation by family request. Funeral service
will take place on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at 11 am, in the
